Gus Sampanes

With more than 30 years of combined experience in the construction and commercial insurance industry, Gus Sampanes brings a strategic, relationship-driven approach to helping businesses protect what matters most. His expertise spans commercial property and casualty insurance, risk management, including workplace safety programs within the construction, manufacturing, and agribusiness industries. As the Vice President of Commercial Insurance at Arcstone Insurance, Gus works closely with the Arcstone commercial team and business owners to address their total cost of risk and support long-term success.

Before joining Arcstone Insurance, Gus held senior distribution roles with Liberty Mutual and State Auto, where he managed multi-state territories across the West and Southeast. Gus is known for building strong partnerships and consistently delivered profitable growth for both his clients and his company. He earned recognition for driving commercial business development, mentoring industry partners, and creating educational programs that received top marks for both content and presentation. His consultative approach, educator mindset, and deep industry knowledge allow him to simplify complex insurance challenges and deliver practical, customized solutions that improve outcomes.

Gus earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication from Boise State University and Master of Business Administration from Louisiana State University–Shreveport and holds several of the insurance industry’s most respected professional designations, including Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), and Agribusiness and Farm Insurance Specialist (AFIS). Gus feeds his natural curiosity and demonstrates his commitment to the industry by epitomizing what it means to be a lifelong learner. He is also a proud U.S. Navy veteran whose commitment to leadership and service continues to shape both his professional and personal life.

Outside of work, Gus enjoys spending time with his wife and two adult sons. You will often find him tackling ambitious DIY projects, exploring the West’s vast public lands with his horses and dogs, or giving back to the community.
